The weather had been strange, and the orchards were not co-operating: the apples were small and far between. We did manage to get a bag or two, and to fill the trunk with the usual array of harvest: carrots, potatoes, turnip, squash, and all the other delights that autumn brings to the Annapolis Valley. If the apples weren't co-operating, however, the charm that the Valley is known for sure was!
After a day of the usual U-Pick's, country markets, and local tourist attractions, we started home. I wasn't expecting a pit-stop on the way, and I'd have never thought to stop at this old property along the highway, but we did, and it was absolutely creepy, even mid-day. Someday, maybe it'll be re-developed, but until then,, 'creepy' and 'remarkable' is just fine by me!
